“In the earthly liturgy we share in a foretaste of that heavenly liturgy which is celebrated in the holy City of Jerusalem toward which we journey as pilgrims, where Christ is sitting at the right of God, Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle.” (CCC 1090)
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Christian life. When we receive the Eucharist, we receive the body and blood, soul and divinity of Christ. Through it, we are nourished by Christ, who gave His life for us so we might be with Him in heaven.
First Communion preparation begins usually at second grade at St. Mary Parish and takes place at either Parish Religious Education or St. Mary School. Parents and students participate in monthly meetings beginning in September. For more information contact Sandy Smith, ssmith@stmaryvermilion.org or 440-967-8711.
